Bandit Activity Increasing?
With stores running low from a missing supply shipment last month, New Shelby has been in dire straits for a new influx of dry goods and other non-perishables. The shortage was finally relieved last week when the new shipment finally arrived, heralded by New Shelby's own Mr. John Lewis.
Sources for the rail claim the earlier shipment was lost to bandits somewhere east of the California border, and Mr. Lewis left town in order to speed the new batch of supplies along. In his absence, his wife, Mrs. Marybeth Lewis, has been keeping the Lewis General Store open and operating as smoothly as ever. Mr. Lewis finally returned safe and sound to New Shelby on Wednesday morning of last week, the new supply shipment only a few hours behind. Many citizens of the town were relieved to see new inventory on the shelves, and have resumed their usual shopping habits.
It remains to be seen what the rail is doing to protect future shipments from other such attacks, and to assure New Shelby is stocked and supplied with necessities in the coming months, with no further interruptions in deliveries. -Ophelia C. Stover, New Shelby

Ellwood clan's prodigal son?
As one of the cornerstones of New Shelby, the Ellwood family boasts a deputy, a schoolmistress, and a respected bank employee among its members. Recently, another of the Ellwood siblings has resurfaced -- Theodore Ellwood, the eldest, who several long-standing members of the community verify left New Shelby unexpectedly fourteen years ago.
Mr. Ellwood's previous whereabouts remain unknown, but it should be noted that he has felt compelled to returned to New Shelby under an assumed name. His motivations for keeping his identity veiled up to this point are, of course, his own, but one can only hope he and his family are given ample space and opportunity to reconnect again without outside interference.
Congratulations are to be offered to the entire Ellwood family for the return of their long-absent brother, and best wishes to all of them. -Ophelia C. Stover, New Shelby
